SPECIAL THANKS:

First, I want to thank Mary Ann, Lori, and Isaac Katzanek (stage manager) for being part of this exciting new venture with me! This is a project that has relied on the patience and gifts of many others. Vida Engstrand and Nancy Rose were the first to suggest that I write these stories and they read some very early drafts. Then, director Matt M. Morrow worked with me, dealt with my neurosis and need for therapeutic tangents, and helped me to develop segments of this monologue, many that I’ve edited for this play and others that will be part of The Unauthorized Biography of Dr. Irma King. Without him I would have never had the courage to move forward nor the knowledge on how to begin to dramatize the many pages of prose.
At the same time, I began to read portions around the Boston area and get feedback and I have Cheryl, Liz, and Deb to thank for that. Katie Frassinelli and Aaron Hellem generously read and commented on various drafts and their encouragement and suggestions have been such a blessing to me. I’m grateful to my identical cousin, Michael Frassinelli, who designed the show image and Moe Schell, who will consult on the costumes. There have been many other readers, some who have seen it workshopped, and I am extremely grateful to them as well. They include: Moe, Shan, JC, Barb, Maria, Dede, Steve, Joe, Drew, Spencer, Annie, Robin, Jodi, Terry, Tim, Stewart, Ilya, Kirk, Jane, Joel, Dorion, Martha, Cindy, and the amazing Skyler Sullivan, who needs to “take it easy.” And finally I thank my mom for answering so many questions and letting me try out my comic timing on her and my sister, who continues to show me how to not take everything so damn seriously.
